In Virginia, there are three physical casinos. They are the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Bristol, Rivers Casino in Portsmouth, and Ceasers Virginia. During March, these three casinos combined for $65 million in gaming revenue. That was up 13.5% percent from their revenue generated in February 2024. Additionally, these casinos paid $10.3 million in taxes combined to the state. 

That’s up 73.9% from their totals in March of 2023. The Virginia Lottery made this data available to the public on April 15th. Slot revenue was up 11.5% from month to month for a total of $48.9 million in March 2024. Additionally, table games generated $16.2 million which was up 20.1%.

The Bristol Casino is a temporary facility in Virginia that will be the future home of the Hard Rock. In March 2024, they reported $16.27 million in adjusted gaming revenues. Roughly $13 million of that came from their 911 slots and $3.26 million came from their 29 table games offered. In April of 2022, the Virginia Lottery Board approved the Hard Rock’s casino license in Bristol. 

Rivers Casino in Portsmouth, Virginia generated $27.7 million in adjusted gaming revenue during March 2024. They were the first permanent casino to open in Virginia in January 2023. Virginia’s third casino is the Ceasers in Danville. Their adjusted gaming revenue in March 2024 was $16.36 million.

Caesars in Danville is under construction for over $650 million

Last August, Caesars in Danville began its construction and $650 million has been invested to build this new state-of-the-art casino. There will be a 500-room hotel along with a massive casino floor. Caesars will have more than 1,300 slots, 85 live table games, 24 electronic table games, and a World Series of Poker room. Most importantly, it will feature a Ceasears sportsbook. 

Additionally, there will be a pool and spa along with a fitness center. That’s a total of 40,000 square feet for the entire venue. Caesars can accommodate up to 2,500 guests at one time. The Hard Rock Casino in Bristol is expected to open this summer. It will feature a 3,200-seat performance venue with a 20,000-person outdoor entertainment venue. The Hard Rock will be open 24/7 and will generate anywhere between 1,200 and 1,500 new jobs in the state. A win for Virginia.
