UFC: Sergei Pavlovich played slots before knockout Fight Night win
UFC heavyweight fighter Sergei Pavlovich must’ve felt the luck in the air ahead of his Fight Night brawl with Curtis Blaydes on Saturday.
Ahead of the fight, Pavlovich hit up the slot machines in Las Vegas to pass the time.
While it’s not at all common to see athletes doing much of anything outside of preparation ahead of a big contest, maybe playing the slots helped put Pavlovich’s mind at ease?
Well, it must’ve worked, as Pavlovich won his fight with Blaydes with a first-round knockout to advance to 18-1-0 on his career.
A very jovial Pavlovich shared that he, a rookie gambler, was not at all successful at the slots before the fight.
“I mean, to be honest, I’ve never gambled,” Pavlovich said with a laugh. “I’ve never played any of those things, and a buddy of mine was like, ‘here, here’s a hundred bucks…try it. See how you feel.’ And then somebody else shot the video, and now, there you go.”
His exact explanation on the follow-up question for how he lost the money is just hilarious.
While Pavlovich didn’t do quite as well at the slots, he had no problem dispatching his opponent in the ring. Maybe some of that momentum will help him if he ever decides to press his luck at the casino again.
