Gambling on Twitch is gaining popularity. Slots had an average viewership of 61,881 in the last month. Fornite was below Slabs in most-watched category last week. Bloomberg report suggests some Twitch users were influenced by their favorite streamers to start gambling.
Bloomberg reporter Cecilia D'Anastasio wrote a news article about Twitch gambling. She highlights how some Twitch viewers develop gambling addictions after watching their favorite streamers "play" slots on livestreams. One of them, a Canadian hospital accountant, gambled his life savings away after following his favorite Twitch streamer Felix "xQc" and using his promotional link.
The impetus to gamble on the website came from watching Twitch streams. The streams are sponsored by the same website used by their creators. Vaibhav Kumar got into gambling after the Twitch meta took over, but has since given up on crypto-gambling after watching sponsored streamers.
Sponsored streamers from Twitch are betting a lot of money online. Last month xQc lost $170K in two minutes.
