Slot influencer visits Saracen Casino
Decked with images of Las Vegas across his button-down shirt, the man who goes by Vegas Matt on YouTube and other platforms shared his secrets on playing slot games with Saracen Player's Club members Friday at Saracen Casino Resort.
Those secrets didn't involve how to beat the games.
"There's not anyone who can tell you how to beat a slot machine," Matt Morrow told the gamblers at a meet-and-greet. "If the lucky gods are smiling down, you'll win. If they're not smiling down, you won't."
That was in response to a request a lady made to Morrow: "I want you to tell me how to win some money." But in the casino world, Lady Luck is at the center of it all.
"I don't get hung up too much on whether you win or lose," Morrow said. "What I like about Saracen, the people are so nice. I don't know if it's the Southern hospitality or what it is. I don't have a memory of how I did last time. I know this time, I'm down a little, but I got one big jackpot. I got one of those big Saracen checks for 5,750 dollars."
His Vegas Matt channel on YouTube has amassed 456,000 subscribers and 680 videos since he joined the platform in 2007. Aside from his notoriety as a slot influencer, the Evanston, Ill., native who grew up in California's Bay Area owns 11 bed-and-breakfast properties, including one on Greers Ferry Lake in northern Arkansas.
His visit was a welcome perk for the Player's Club members, who were treated to hors d'oeuvres and drinks during his visit and got to take professional photos with him.
"A lot of people heard that I was coming, and so Saracen was nice enough to put this little spread together, have a meet-and-greet and answer a few questions and take pictures," Morrow said.
Most of the content on the Vegas Matt podcasts show him finding ways to win big on slots. He released a video last year listing his 10 commandments of gambling, at the top of which is "Always use your player's cards."
He also reminds players to gamble responsibly.
"You don't do it to win money, or you shouldn't. You should just do it for fun and entertainment," he said.
