Singapore inaugurated its new Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) on August 16. GRA will take over from the Casino Regulatory Agency (CRA).
Singapore Inaugurated New Gambling Regulatory Authority of Singapore. The GRA was established by two new acts passed in the Singapore Parliament on March 11, 2022. Both came into force on August 1, 2021. G RA took over from the previous regulator, the GARC, which was created in 2008 in connection with the establishment of the Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa.
Singapore established a new gambling regulator to keep up with the new trends and keep gambling regulation ahead of the developments. The Ministry of Home Affairs plans to review and update the Casino Control Act. GRA will also look to refresh the licensing regime, allowing for different classes of licenses for higher-risk and lower- risk gambling activities.
