SENZ acquires slot in 'The Race' New Zealand
Sports Entertainment Network’s SENZ national radio platform has pledged to allow listeners to share in the opportunity after securing a slot in New Zealand harness racing’s newest innovation.
SENZ confirmed today it had bought one of 10 slots in ‘The Race’ for the next three years – an innovative trots race based on Sydney thoroughbred race The Everest.
The slot holders will choose and recruit from Australasia’s best pacers to share in the $900,000 prizemoney.
The inaugural race will be held at Cambridge on Thursday, April 14.
Chief executive Craig Hutchison said SENZ was delighted to buy a slot to support the highly popular industry in New Zealand.
“We really believe in the concept and are delighted to have been accepted for a slot in the race,” Hutchison said.
“Our audience loves harness racing and SENZ intends to get right behind the concept.
“Over the coming weeks we’ll give our audience a chance to win shares and follow the journey of securing our entrant and joining in all the fun in the lead up.”
SENZ will take a live call of The Race on the night and cover the lead up via its popular shows Baz and Izzy for breakfast, Mornings with Smithy, Afternoons with Staffy, Drive with Kirstie and Beav, The Mail Run, and its dedicated Sunday Trots show.
