Queensland Government Announces Plan to Minimize Gambling Harm
The first day of Responsible Gambling Awareness Week (RGAW) was marked with a new initiative to address problem gambling in Queensland.
4-year gambling harm minimization plan was released by the Queensland Government. The plan is aimed at reducing problem gambling and preventing state residents from developing problem behavior. It was developed by Responsible Gambling Advisory Committee (RGAC) with industry experts, community, and government members.
Queensland's Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Shannon Fentiman announced the 2021-2025 gambling harm minimization plan. The RGAW campaign is running until August 1. The aim of the campaign to deal with the public stigma around problem gambling and instill change in behavior is to encourage people to seek help.
There are growing number of interstate and international gambling operators providing online services. Queenslanders are exposed to gambling at a very young age.
