LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A proposed casino and hotel project slated to be built in the Historic Westside of Las Vegas has sparked outrage amongst members of the community.

A local commercial real estate expert believes real estate is more than just buildings, it's about people.

A 34-story casino and hotel project called "The Westside Hotel" has been proposed for the corner of Jackson Avenue and F Street.

, the community liaison mentioned this specific location, once the Old Town Tavern, is the only part of the Westside neighborhood with a grandfathered gaming designation.

Minija Yan, the director of Millennium Commercial Properties, sent this statement to News 3 regarding the proposed development:

"Urban revitalization like the Historic Westside is not just a public-private partnership. It is a public, private, AND community partnership."

"Developers must find balance between the need to meet their business goals and the need to engage the broader community in a transparent and inclusive process that builds trust and achieves equitable outcomes that benefit local economy, workforce, and next generation," Yan continued.

"The Westside Hotel" project will be brought up at the next city planning commission meeting on November 14.
