Platipus CEO Q&A: Creating the Perfect Bavarian Slot Game
Platipus Ltd. has a portfolio of diverse games. Its recent slot release Coinfest is a take on a German beer hall. It was recently named VegasSlotsOnline News’ Slots of the Week feature. VSO News asked Platipuses CEO Martijn Peters about the game's design and the challenges he's faced.
Platipus started making games for Facebook in 2012. In 2014 the company switched to real money gaming. Platipuses is an Isle of Man company with partners all around the world. It is busy obtaining licenses. It has MGA, UK license, Ukrainian license and Romanian license.
There is a lot of competition in the gaming industry. The biggest challenge is keeping up to date with the newest features. Platipus needs to keep it as light as possible and keep the product global.
Diversity is important for slot design. The more features are included, the better. If the client is focusing on Asia, they want to include as many symbols and animation as possible.
Platipus is constantly trying to improve its user interface, its customer back-office and numerous other features. One of the latest developments is the coin chain feature and the Platipos gamification tool.
The player gets different coins working the same way as Hold and Win in Coinfest. The coins do not award the payout immediately. New coins are added and the game triggers the bonus feature.
Platipus CEO explains the development process for Coinfest. Co infest has a unique German beer hall theme. The production team creates an alpha version to provide everyone a general idea of what the game will look like and what it will be about.
Platipus is getting more involved in Asia and LatAm. New releases are planned for Platipuses. They take into account the features of the new markets.
