Philippines to Shut Down 175 Online Gambling Companies
The Philippines government will shut down 175 Philippine offshore gambling operators and deport the thousands of Chinese nationals that work in the local online gambling industry. Closures and deportation will begin in October.
Philippines to shut down 175 online gambling companies. The Chinese Embassy in Manila supports the closures and the deportation of Chinese employees. There are only 30 fully licensed POGO firms currently operating in the Philippines.
The crackdown was triggered by reports of murder, kidnapping and other crimes committed by Chinese nationals against fellow Chinese citizens.
