EY expects the e-sports market in India to reach Rs 11 billion by FY2025. EY expects it to generate economic value of around Rs 100 billion between now and FY 2025, mainly due to the growth of eSports. Penta started the company during the Covid 19 pandemic. Karnataka Assembly passed the Karnataka Police (Amendment) Bill banning online gambling or betting in the state with maximum imprisonment of three years and penalty up to Rs 1 lakh. The bill bans online games involving all forms of wagering or betting. Gamezop is confident that in future the government will provide further clarification and exclude ‘games of skill’ from the ban. Penta Esports founder Anurag Khurana believes there should be no entry or registration fee for e-sports tournaments and leagues.
