NYS Commercial Casinos Face 5,000 Staff Members Layoff
Rivers Casino and Resort is facing major layoffs in the upcoming weeks if the current lockdown situation is not lifted. About 1,000 individuals were furloughed back in March and they will have to be laid off if nothing changes. In-parson casino gaming has remained prohibited across the State of New York since mid-March.
There are three Native American casino locations in New York that have been relaunched. They are overseen by Seneca Nation of Indians and Oneida Indian Nation. The commercial casinos are still closed. Governor Andrew Cuomo has not allowed them to reopen. Players should wear masks at all times.
Furloughed workers at commercial casinos and movie theaters in New York are facing layoffs. The state has not greenlighted commercial casino operation and in-person gaming. Del Lago Resort & Casino near Waterloo has been in lockdown for four months. Vernon Downs could lay off some 900 people, Resorts World Catskills could lose 1,256 people. Respires World New york City might have to lay 955 people in the fall.
