NY Formally Includes Downstate Casinos in Budget. Lawmakers have given the go-ahead to fast-track the issuance of the three commercial gaming licenses. This will start a bidding process from gaming companies that wish to launch such casinos in the region.
NY has officially included downstate casino licenses in its new budget. The horse racing industry supports the decision. Empire State Casino and Resorts World New York City are the front-runners for the license. The state will give away the licenses at least a year earlier than expected. It will support the horse race industry with VLT revenue sharing payments. There are already two front runners for such a license: Empire and New Jersey.
NY Formally Includes Downstate Casinos in Budget. Manhattan is an option if lawmakers guess correctly and two of the licenses go to properties in Yonkers and Queens. Some locals such as Manhattan Assemblyman Richard Gottfried oppose such a project in the borough.
