Augustine noticed the pyramid next door to our hotel and then became very excited when he noticed the hieroglyphics on the wall. Thus, the Luxor Hotel became a highlight of the trip for him without even saying there.

Luxor Hotel Las Vegas – Kids Love It

I was not exaggerating when I mentioned how much six-year-old Augustine is into Egyptology In this phase of his life. He frequently asks when we are going to Cairo and dragged us to the British Museum earlier this month in London because he wanted to examine the artifacts himself.

It was really rather cute when he saw the hieroglyphics etched onto the walls of the Luxor hotel and immediately began speaking about how he wanted to “excavate” there and “do my research.”

While we hope he will be a doctor of some kind, there are worse things to do in lie than be an archeologist. I did not have the heart to break it to him that everything at Luxor was not at all ancient, so I played along as we walked over in the afternoon heat to Luxor in order to “explore.”

Augustine had a field day inside and we did not even go inside the museum…just the public areas. I think that if we return to Las Vegas, we will stay here…I know Augustine has already asked me several times.

On the other hand, with EgyptAir planning new nonstop service between Cairo and Los Angeles, traveling to Egypt will theoretically be easier than ever starting this winter.

Augustine wanted souvenirs from the Luxor…I told him he could get souvenirs for a small fraction of the cost when we were actually in Egypt.

But Augustine wants to get back to Sin City as soon as possible to stay at Luxor. We’ll see…
