Man beating woman at Las Vegas hotel was shot with own gun

LAS VEGAS — A man who was shot at a Las Vegas hotel last month was beating a woman when her friends intervened and shot him with his own gun, authorities said.
Brandon Eric Dangerfield, 33, of Las Vegas, was charged with one count of domestic battery by strangulation, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Brian Boxler said officers were called to the Sahara Las Vegas at about 11:30 a.m. PDT on June 27 and found Dangerfield in a hall on the 22nd floor of the hotel with a gunshot wound to his torso, according to KTNV.
According to an arrest report, Dangerfield’s former girlfriend said he had shown up uninvited to her birthday party and tried pulling her out of the room after threatening to shoot her girlfriends, KLAS reported.
“(The ex-girlfriend) said Dangerfield told the women (in the room) that he would shoot all of them if (she) did not come out of the room,” the report states.
The woman claimed that Dangerfield choked her, hit her in the face and dragged her face across the carpet that caused a “rug burn on her right temple and swelling to both eyes,” the television station reported.
According to the report, the woman’s friends emerged from the room and intervened, and Dangerfield was shot at one point, the Review-Journal reported.
“It is believed during the fight the women had with Dangerfield, one of them was able to obtain Dangerfield’s gun and shoot him,” police said in the arrest report. “However, at the time of the investigation contact (with the women’s friends) was unsuccessful.”
Police were also unable to obtain video of the incident, the Review-Journal reported.
No other arrests have been made. The person who pulled the trigger could be facing a charge of battery with the use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, KLAS reported.
Dangerfield was taken to an area hospital in critical condition after the shooting, the newspaper reported.
He is now in custody at the Clark County Detention Center.
