Las Vegas Travel Increasing, Nearing Pre-Pandemic Levels
3.2 million people traveled to Las Vegas in August, up 6% year-to-year but down 11% from 2019. Las Las is on course for a record-breaking year in gambling, having reported more than $1bn in revenue for 19 straight months.
32 million visitors visited Las Vegas last year. This is down 25% from 42 million in 2019. The Asian struggles to return to pre-pandemic life are well documented. Macau has been subject to frequent travel restrictions and casino shutdowns. 14% of Las Las visitors in 2020 will be from overseas.
Las Vegas travel is increasing. It's not all the way recovered internationally, because of the slow recovery in Asia.
Harry Reid International Airport is serving 51.5 million guests this year. The number will rise to 51 million by the end of the year, but it will be higher next year due to the recovery from the pandemic. Local gambling centers reported $11 billion in revenue year-to-year from September. The state is on pace to reach $14.7 billion by New Year's Day.
