Southern Nevada home prices have been on a rollercoaster ride over the past two decades. Las Vegas house prices in 2004 had shot up by 53 percent from a year earlier. In 2008, Las Las house price dropped by nearly 33 percent. In August 2020, house values in Southern Nevada were up 4.7 percent, while nationally they had climbed 5.8 percent in the same year. The Case-Shiller index shows that the national average was up 19. 8 percent year over year in August. It is the first time since 2005 that Southern Nevadans' house value rose faster than the overall U.S. average.
