The interactive gaming industry has undergone many changes in its two-and-a-half-decade existence. It has grown at a pace that was previously unimaginable. The way people are gambling over the internet is changing. iGaming Trends For 2023 is a rundown of the top trends seen at the biggest casinos in the US and ones appearing outside the boundaries of traditional gaming sites.

The original metaverse was the online multimedia game Second Life. Virtual worlds like Decentraland and the Sandbox are emulating the concept. They use Ether-tokens to power their transaction capabilities through fungible and non-fungible tokens. In DecENTRALand, gamblers buy wearable NFT to get an allotment of chips daily. The Tominoya Casino incorporates a more traditional gaming system.

Evolution pioneered the category of live game show games in 2017 with Dreamcatcher. Since then, Evolution has released Monopoly Live, Deal or No Deal, Mega Ball, and Crazy Time. In 2022, they will release Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt, available in VR.

iGaming trends for 2023 include skill-based gambling and interactive games.  Nevada and New Jersey allowed this option to their land- based venues in 2015/16. Fish Catch from RTG is an arcade-style shooter that announced the arrival of products where players, through expertise, could lower the operator’s advantage.

VIP systems at online casinos are nothing new. Now they have become more complicated and they offer Rakeback, loot-box-like promos, investment opportunities and more. Staking is a particularly interesting concept involving casino users locking a portion of their funds in a site’s vault and getting a share of the platform's revenues paid out as dividends in return.

Microgaming showed off a demo of its version of VR roulette in 2016. Playtech tried to launch a virtual reality slot in 2010, but it didn't find a lot of fans. Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt has amassed high playability numbers in 2022. NetEnt is planning to release a VR version for Gonza”s Quest. In 2023 expect to see slots get upgraded game mechanics. AR table entertainment may be just around the corner.
