iGaming Ontario to Oversee Province’s Online Gambling
iGaming Ontario will regulate the province's internet gambling industry under the umbrella of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
iGaming Ontario is a subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. It will start issuing licenses to online gambling operators later in 2021. Approved sites will display iGamingOntario’s logo.
iGaming Ontario will develop the gaming industry's regulatory structure this summer and put out a draft commercial agreement for operators to review. Operators will begin submitting their applications through the iAGCO online portal in the fall. The IT systems with which the online gambling industry will work will be constructed and tested. iGaming expects to let the first operators begin offering their products in December 2021.
iGaming Ontario will oversee Province’s Online Gambling. New law allows single-event sports betting in Canada. The only wagers people could place before were parlays with a three- event minimum. About CA$500m of the total CA $14.5bn that Canadians bet on sports every year was bet in parls.
