iGaming in Pennsylvania Stays Strong Even as Live Casinos Reopen
After COVID-19, many people in Pennsylvania were forced to stay at home. Since casinos opened back in the state, more people are choosing to use online casinos. The gross gaming revenue of the 12 casinos in this state had several ups and downs in March, April and May. In March the GGR recorded a 12% drop, in April it was up by 1%, and in May it recorded another 3% decline.
According to Santarelli, the fact that brick-and-mortar casinos have experienced a drop in popularity and allowed online casinos to rise in Pennsylvania might be a step forward and may motivate other states to legalize online gambling. Online gambling is legal in Michigan, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. Connecticut is on the waiting list.
