Hard Rock International kicks off plans for temporary casino in Virginia
Construction plans are now underway for Hard Rock International’s temporary casino in Bristol, Virginia, its first in the south-eastern US state.
While a permanent location will come later, an interim facility is in the works at the Women’s Belk store in the old Bristol Mall, scheduled to open before the end of June 2022.
Hard Rock wants to get operations up and running as soon as possible after it received approval from the Virginia Lottery. Consequently, it will refurbish the unoccupied space to serve as a casino until a permanent location can be built.
“We’ve introduced the Hard Rock experience to a number of cities this year, and our presence in Bristol, Virginia, is especially rewarding for the brand as the project is our first hotel and casino in the state,” said Jon Lucas, Hard Rock International’s COO.
“The project will spur economic growth, additional tax revenue and create new jobs for the city and its surrounding areas. We look forward to welcoming Hard Rock fans in the new year.”
With 30,000 square feet of casino space, guests should be able to enjoy a full gaming experience. It will include a main casino floor, as well as non-smoking and high-limit gaming areas, featuring 900 gaming slots and 20 tables.
Customers will also be able to enjoy a new restaurant — a grab-and-go food outlet — alongside a sports bar and lounge, as well as an adjacent sports lounge where smoking is permitted.
Through its multiple gaming offerings, amenities and services — including a sportsbook, Virginia Lottery offices and a retail store — Hard Rock expects its temporary casino to create 600 new jobs in Bristol.
