Golden Nugget has launched a casino app in Pennsylvania. The app will offer players a vast library of slots and table games, and users in the Keystone State can access the app either through the company’s site or their dedicated app available on both iOS and Android devices.

The app is already alive and kicking in Michigan, New Jersey, and West Virginia and is part of an ongoing expansion of Golden Nugget, which is owned by DraftKings. They will be keen to become one of the leading online casinos in PA, a territory that is notoriously competitive, with the pastime proving very popular in Pennsylvania.

DraftKings NA President, Matt Kalish, reacted enthusiastically to the launch, stating;

“We’re thrilled to announce that Golden Nugget Online Gaming’s mobile casino is now available to customers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”

“The app is powered by our leading technology, which dynamically brings hundreds of popular casino games and exclusive content to our customer’s fingertips.”

“Pennsylvanians will be able to enjoy superior customer service, rewarding promotions, and a smooth interface while playing on Golden Nugget Online Gaming.”

DraftKings purchased Golden Nugget in May 2022 in a deal said to have cost as much as $1.5 billion, and they will be looking to make the most of the Pennsylvania market, which saw a revenue rise of 9% in July when compared to the same period in 2022.

To mark the launch, Golden Nugget is giving new players a great new bonus, which could be worth as much as $1000. The welcome offer includes an opt-in proviso, and a first deposit of at least $5 must be made.

A first deposit is then matched up to $1000, and on top of this, players also receive $50 in casino credits to be used on all eligible games on offer.

Pennsylvania is something of a crowded online casino field, with Golden Nugget becoming the 21st to operate in the state, and the connection to DraftKings will clearly aid its success, with the brand being a familiar presence in the area.

In July, the total revenue made by the gaming market in Pennsylvania reached a massive $467 million. Online casino brands made up a big chunk of that total, with $132.9 million made by the operators, which is a massive 35% year-on-year rise. $94.9 million of that came from slots, $35 million from online table games, and a further $2.6 million coming from online poker.

The most significant portion of the total profit, however, came from land-based casino’s physical slots, which secured $214 million in revenue. Sports betting in the state saw a flat return when compared to the same period in 2022, but that still represents a solid $338.5 million from that avenue.

In terms of which brands rule the roost. FanDuel leads the way, ahead of their arch-rivals DraftKings, with BetMGM, Caesars, BetRivers, BetPARX, and Barstool a good deal behind these two brands.

Over the course of 2023, online casino operators have already surpassed $1 billion in revenue, showing that the industry is looking very comfortable indeed.
