Genting Has “Strong Chance” for Macau Casino License
Genting Group was a surprise entry into the bidding war for a Macau casino license two weeks ago. The group is headed by Malaysian Chinese billionaire Tan Sri Lim. The incumbents operating in Macao since 2002 are now facing the prospect of Genting taking their place.
Genting has a strong chance to win a Macau casino license. It has gaming properties in the US, UK, Malaysia, and Singapore. The company has also invested in non-gaming projects in China. The Macao casino industry is in a bidding war. There are seven applicants for six licenses. They include Sands China, MGM Resorts, Wynn Macaon, Galaxy Entertainment, Melco Resort, MJM Holdings.
