A Genesee County woman couldn’t help but cry when she won a $178,116 Monthly Jackpot progressive prize from the Michigan Lottery.
The lucky 48-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, won $178,116 after she was selected in a random drawing that took place earlier this month. She earned entries into the giveaway by playing the Monthly Jackpot game online at MichiganLottery.com.
“I played the Monthly Jackpot game a few times, but I didn’t realize it had a second chance component,” said the player. “When I got the email notifying me that I had won, I thought it was a scam. Once I called the Lottery and confirmed that it was real, I couldn’t help but cry!”
The player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and purchase a new car.
Monthly Jackpot is an online instant game that includes a second chance progressive jackpot drawing. Part of every purchase of the Monthly Jackpot game funds a progressive jackpot prize which is awarded in a second chance drawing each month.
