Ex-Paddy Power directors form group to lobby for gambling change
Three former directors of Paddy Power plc have formed a lobby group to press institutional investors and regulators to accelerate change within the gambling industry, and address “the known and considerable increase in levels of gambling addiction”.
Former chief executive Stewart Kenny, former chairman Fintan Drury and Ian Armitage, former director of Mercury Asset Management, the company’s first institutional backer, have formed Stop Gambling Harm Now.
The group will lobby legislators, including the Gambling Commission in the UK and the proposed gambling regulator in Ireland.
Its main focus, however, will be the investment community where environmental, social and governance principles and integrated reporting are driving change in the areas of climate change and diversity.
