Decision On Nittany Mall Mini-Casino On Hold Until Mid-Autumn
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will hear arguments on the pending license for a mini-casino near State College at its October 19, 2022 meeting. The Cordish Companies has a lawsuit pending in Commonwealth Court over its claim that the gaming board improperly accepted the Category 4 licensing bid from Ira Lubert on Sept. 2, 2020.
Project would be state’s fifth mini-casino. It has encountered heavy local opposition. More than 500 letters were submitted to the board opposing the Nittany Mall mini casino. The gaming board has taken more time to review the Lubert application than in the previous cases. If the game board does approve the project, it would open no sooner than late 2023. If not, the decision will be delayed until mid-Autumn.
