Chile Casino Executives’ Homes Raided Amidst Suspected Collusion
Chile's gaming industry is not looking as bright as it could be.
Dreams and Enjoy are in the midst of a merger. Their casinos run around 60% of all casinos in Chile. The homes of top executives from Marina del Sol, Enjoy and Dreams were raided. It's not clear if it was because of the merger or if there was evidence of collusion.
The merger of the major casino operators in Chile might threaten the existence of their industry. The iGaming bill was introduced almost half a year ago. It's supposed to regulate and tax online gambling. However, the proposed tax framework is not clear enough. The situation in the gaming industry in Chilean is bad. There are problems with the regulatory body and with preparations for expansion. New South Wales has recently revamped its regulatory bodies. Chile needs to follow suit. iGambling has shown great potential. A flourishing taxable industry is good news for the government. If the country revamps its regulations, it will be able to progress further.
