Casino Revenue Ticks Higher In Illinois To Close 2021
Illinois' gaming board reported revenue of $109.8 million for the month of December. The figure represents a 5.6% increase from November's total of$103.9 million. December 2021 revenue total was an 11.7% decline from the $124.3 million generated in December 2019. For 2021, the state collected close to $248. 7 million in casino gaming taxes.
Rivers in Des Plaines, Illinois is the biggest table games source of casino revenue in the state. December table revenue increased 14.9% to $18 million. Hollywood Casino in Aurora came closest at 24.5%. Grand Victoria Casino reported a significant uptick in table game revenue of 20. 5% month over month to nearly $2. 9 million in total.
Rivers and Rivers' casinos saw a rise in revenue. Grand Victoria's only other venue to reach eight figures. Harrah's in Joliet came in second place with $153.90 per admission. Hard Rock's temporary casino in Rockford saw 5.5% decline in attendance compared to its first month of operations.
Three of the 10 casinos in Illinois surpassed $100 million in overall revenue. Rivers generated $458.2 million. Grand Victoria and Harrah's Joliet generated another $143.3 million and $137.5 million respectively. Hollywood in Aurora was the only other venue within shouting distance of nine figures with $95. 2 million, and the average revenue per admission was $115.89.
Illinois collected $62.9 million in tax receipts for the month of January. The state received $717.7 million from VGT revenue. VTTs in Illinois increased from 7,283 at the start of the year to 7.841.
