Hard Rock Atlantic City casino officials agreed to a new labor agreement with the Unite Here Local 54 union on Saturday night. The last casino strike in Atlantic city was in 2016, when the same union rejected concessions demanded by Trump Taj Mahal owner Carl Icahn. The most infamous strike took place in 1986, with more than 10,000 workers walking off the job. It shuttered the casino and reopened as the Hard Rock casino that opened in mid-2018. This summer could be the biggest in gaming revenue in many years.

The Atlantic City casino workers have reached a settlement agreement. The union president called it the best contract they've ever had. Ronnette Lark, a housekeeper at Harrah's, is excited about the raise. The casinos stayed afloat during the pandemic thanks to the booming business of online casino gaming. They also got leaner out of necessity during that time. There was a national labor shortage and they had to find a replacement for striking workers.
