The novel coronavirus pandemic had mixed impacts on construction in 2020. San Manuel's $550 million expansion is the next big project. The casinos built and opened in the past year and the new ones are coming in 2021.

Agua Caliente Casino Cathedral City was supposed to open in fall 2020, but it opened before Thanksgiving. The 30,000-square-foot facility has 536 slot machines and eight table games, as well as multiple bars and restaurants.

The Cahuilla Band of Indians was preparing to open the new Cauhilla Casino Hotel. The pandemic caused the opening to be delayed from April 2 to May 27.

Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa finished its expansion in 2020. The Splash Bar and Sideline Bar & Grill were opened in the new floor space created as part of the expansion. Agua Caliente Casino Cathedral City opened at the end of November. Cahuilla Casino Hotel reopened after a two-month coronavirus closure. It announced that there would be a maximum of three players per table game. It is located in Caulla Casino. In the past year, the casino has added 65,000 square feet and 800 slot machines to the floor.

San Manuel Casino's hotel tower is fully vertical. Its expansion project will be completed in 2022 with the opening of its event center. The Sideline Bar & Grill opened this year at Morongos Casino. It is a sports bar that opened on the same day the rest of the casino reopened after a two-month coronavirus closure. A 3D model of Sanman Casino’s planned hotel structure and event centre is on display on its second floor entrance.

Pala Casino finished a phased upgrade of its hotel rooms in early 2020. Rooms now have new paint, 49-inch TVs, Keurig coffee makers, charging and music stations.

Some elements of San Manuel Casino's $550 million expansion have been delayed due to the pandemic. An expanded gaming space, 24-hour restaurant, and a fine dining restaurant are expected to open by summer of 2021. A 205-foot hotel tower with 429 rooms is already fully vertical and visible from the surrounding area. At the base of the tower there will be a pool area with two pools. The events center will not open to public until 2022.
