Las Vegas' Mirage Hotel to Close This Summer

It’s the end of an era for a famed Las Vegas hotel. The Mirage Hotel & Casino will officially close its doors on July 17. The 65-acre property will then undergo an extensive construction and re-open in 2027 as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas.
The Mirage’s transition to become the Hard Rock will visibly change the Las Vegas skyline, as a new 700-foot guitar will be built on the property, in a similar style as the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, FL.
"While we pause for the incredible transformation of this iconic property, I'd like to thank all team members at The Mirage for their incredible commitment and helping us provide memorable experiences for our guests," The Mirage’s President Joe Lupo said in a press release on Wednesday.
For travelers looking to stay at the Mirage one last time before it closes, rates vary from $399 to $99 throughout the final months. The last bookable hotel night at the property before the July 17 closure is July 14, and the rate is $99.The Mirage is currently home to a variety of popular shows such as Cirque du Soleil's The Beatles Love, and magician Shin Lim's Limitless. As a result of The Mirage's closure, The Beatles Love is also scheduled to close on July 6, and Shin Lim will close on July 14.
In the event a customer has an existing booking or show tickets after July 14, that was previously purchased, the reservation team is automatically canceling and refunding those bookings. For more assistance, customers can visit a dedicated website to assist with bookings during the closure.
Since 1989, the Mirage has welcomed millions of guests to Las Vegas with its iconic shows, volcano eruptions, and animal exhibits. The Las Vegas Review Journal covered the November 22, 1989 opening by celebrating the property as being “revolutionary” for Las Vegas.
The Mirage is the latest of the legacy Las Vegas casinos to closed in order to make way for new attractions. On April 2, The Tropicana Las Vegas after 70 years on the strip. The property will be demolished and turned into a new 30,000 baseball stadium for the Athletics baseball team.
